A rough introduction to Middleton Island: 75 minutes of raw video footage

The following video material was shot during a visit in the summer of 2005. It contains raw footage, unedited, shot with a Sony miniDV camera, which only survived one season out on the island. Enjoy!

Welcome to the official Middleton Island blog!

Middleton Island is a small remote island, located in the northern Gulf of Alaska, about 80 km south of the Prince William Sound. Middleton is inhabited only for about half the time by few people. It contains various radar - and weather installations, but more importantly it hosts some astonishing wildlife year-round and has a fascinating history.

The purpose of this weblog is to share any information about the island with you and over time it will hopefully function as an ‘online encyclopedia’. Personally, after five summer visits between 2005 and 2016 I know enough Middleton-related stories and anecdotes to fill this blog up with until eternity, but it is most certainly open for other people’s contributions!
